(Dan Tri) – Russia warns Poland about a `dangerous game` when considering the possibility of allowing the US to place nuclear weapons.

`If they follow the path of further escalation, a further spiral of tension will occur. In general, this game is very dangerous, its consequences are difficult to predict,` Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated.

`It is not difficult to assume that if US nuclear weapons appeared on Polish territory, the corresponding objects would immediately be on the list of legal targets to be destroyed in the event of a military conflict.
According to Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Moscow considers any expansion of NATO’s nuclear sharing agreement to be `seriously destabilizing` and in fact a `threat` to Russia.

The statement by Russian diplomats came after Polish President Andrzej Duda said on April 25 that he had invited Prime Minister Donald Tusk to discuss on May 1 about nuclear weapons capabilities from other countries.
According to President Duda, he personally asked the US to place part of its nuclear arsenal in Poland.
`If our allies decide to deploy nuclear weapons as part of nuclear sharing on our territory to enhance the security of NATO’s eastern flank, then we are ready for this.
President Duda reiterated his view that Poland is ready for this scenario, prompting Prime Minister Tusk to say he wanted the president to clarify.
`This idea is very big, I would say very serious,` Mr. Tusk said, explaining that Poland has no specific plans to receive foreign nuclear weapons.
Previously, President Duda said that the reason Poland affirmed its stance according to the above statement is because `Russia is increasingly militarizing the Kaliningrad land bordering Poland and Lithuania.`
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in January that Moscow views the nuclear arsenals of the US, UK and France as `the only nuclear weapons aimed at the Russian Federation` because NATO has declared Russia the `main threat`.
The Kremlin has repeatedly declared that nuclear war is never allowed to happen, and affirmed that Moscow has never used its atomic arsenal for threatening purposes.
