Reuters said that on January 25 (the first day of the Lunar New Year) Chinese President Xi Jinping convened an emergency meeting of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China to find measures to prevent the epidemic.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Xi emphasized that China is falling into an extremely difficult situation as the strange pneumonia epidemic is spreading faster and faster.

`Faced with the dangerous situation caused by the rapid spread of the new coronavirus, we need to strengthen the centralized and unified leadership of the Party Central Committee,` Xi said.

The Standing Committee of the Chinese Politburo requires the publication of information related to the outbreak of pneumonia in the country to ensure speed, timeliness, accuracy and transparency.

The pneumonia epidemic caused by the new strain of corona virus broke out in Wuhan city at the end of last year and spread to other cities and even other countries in recent days during the Lunar New Year holiday.

Chinese officials said that as of this morning January 26, the number of deaths due to a strange pneumonia epidemic in China has increased to 54 people, while the number of cases infected with this virus has increased to more than 1,700 cases.

The number of infected cases increased rapidly, causing hospitals in China to be overloaded.

Citizens of many countries were evacuated from China to avoid the epidemic.

The Wall Street Times, citing knowledgeable sources, said on January 25 that the US government had signed a contract with an air transport company to evacuate more than 30 diplomats and their families from the US consulate in Ho Chi Minh City.

The source added that currently flight details are still being discussed, such as choosing a narrow-body Boeing 737 or wide-body Boeing 767, and choosing which type depends largely on China’s permission.

The US State Department and the White House have not yet commented on the above information. A source told CNN that the US consulate in Wuhan has contacted US citizens here to be ready to arrange evacuation flights.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it is coordinating with government efforts to get US citizens out of Wuhan.
