In an online speech on April 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said: `We are still waiting for the supply that the parties have committed to transfer to Ukraine. We expect the type and quantity of supply to be possible.`

The Ukrainian leader added: `It is important that every agreement we reach is implemented, everything will bring practical results on the battlefield and raise the morale of people on the front lines.`

Mr. Zelensky said he spoke with Hakeem Jeffries, leader of the Democratic Party in the US House of Representatives, on April 28.

`We are working with our partners at every level to achieve the level of operational support needed not only to hold our ground but also to disrupt Russia’s plans.`

In addition, he said, Kiev is negotiating with the administration of US President Joe Biden on a long-term cooperation agreement in both military, economic and political terms.

Earlier last week, Mr. Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine and the United States had begun negotiations on a bilateral security cooperation agreement.

`We are working to get a commitment of specific support (from the US) this year and for the next 10 years. It will include military, financial and political support, as well as what’s involved.`

He hopes it will be the strongest security agreement among the agreements Kiev reaches with allies and partners.

However, Ukraine’s bilateral agreements with its Western backers have so far failed to achieve common defense commitments.

Mr. Zelensky said he wanted Ukraine’s bilateral treaty with Washington to include specific levels of aid.

The US is currently the largest aid donor to Ukraine since Russia launched a `special military operation` in the neighboring country.
