On the afternoon of April 4 local time, former US President Donald Trump appeared before prosecutors in Manhattan district in New York City.

Regarding Mr. Trump’s appearance, many mixed reactions were given by politicians, prosecutors and Mr. Trump’s legal team.

As usual, Republican allies simultaneously issued strong responses to defend the former President.

Chairwoman of the Republican parliamentary group in the House of Representatives Elise Marie Stefanik, one of Mr. Trump’s most important political allies, called Mr. Trump’s arrest `shameful.`

`President Trump’s support rate continues to grow strongly. President Trump will defeat this witch hunt as well as Mr. Biden to be sworn in as President of the United States in January 2025,` Ms. Stefanik emphasized.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz also spoke up to defend Mr. Trump by criticizing prosecutor Alvin Bragg.

`The arrest and request for former President Trump to appear today by a left-wing prosecutor is truly a joke on America’s rule of law. This decision to prosecute is truly frivolous. This is a prosecution.`

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy also made accusations against prosecutor Alvin Bragg on his personal Twitter page, and warned that the US House of Representatives would conduct an investigation of this prosecutor.

`Alvin Bragg is intentionally disrupting our democratic process through the political prosecution of President Trump. This prosecution used federal funds, while Bragg repeatedly expressed his views

At the White House, US President Joe Biden remains silent in the face of Mr. Trump’s legal scandals.

`President Biden is currently only focused on the American people and this is the job he is doing every day. Mr. Trump’s case is not a priority for the President,` Mr. Biden’s Press Secretary, Karine Jean

However, Ms. Jean-Pierre added that President Biden `will watch the incident on television` if he has time.
