Russia warns Finland about nuclear threat 0

(Dan Tri) – Russian officials warned that Finland will completely face Russia’s countermeasures if it creates a nuclear threat to Moscow.

Finland is considering joining the NATO alliance’s policy of creating a threat to Russia with nuclear weapons.

Finland is one of the newest members admitted to NATO.

Mr. Yermakov accused NATO of `seeing Russia’s restraint and patience as a weakness.`

`The question is, where can Helsinki’s actions in fact strengthen its security leadership role? That role will be difficult to strengthen after the emergence of regions on Finnish territory

Previously, Russian Ambassador to Finland Pavel Kuznetsov on April 6 warned that Moscow would retaliate against Finland if NATO nuclear weapons were placed on Finnish territory.

Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized Finland’s decision to become a NATO member last month, calling its neighbor’s entry a `senseless step` that forced him to send weapons to the two countries’ border.

Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo in March accused Russia of preparing for a long-term conflict with the West and posing a long-term and existential military threat to Europe.

Meanwhile, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen supported French President Emmanuel Macron’s position on deploying military forces to support Ukraine in dealing with Russia.

In an interview with Finnish newspaper IltaLehti this week, Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram said NATO was reportedly ready to establish ground force headquarters for the Nordic countries in Finland.

Mikkeli is also where the Finnish army is headquartered.
