(Dan Tri) – Thousands of people last week crowded into a water park in Wuhan – the place just a few months ago that was the first Covid-19 outbreak in the world.

Thousands of people attended a music party at Maya Beach water park in Wuhan.

Last week, at Maya Beach water park in Wuhan city, Hubei province, thousands of people stood close together.

Such a crowded scene is not an appropriate image for 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out globally, infecting more than 22.5 million people and killing more than 791,000 people.

People do not wear masks and do not practice physical distancing when playing at the water park.

This image is completely different from the rest of the world, when countries are still struggling to cope with the pandemic.

The blockade was lifted in April and no cases of community transmission have been recorded in Wuhan or Hubei since mid-May.

Life returned to normal

Wuhan was empty of people and vehicles when the blockade was imposed.

Wuhan, a city of 11 million people, was imposed an unprecedented blockade on January 23.

Wuhan is completely isolated from the rest of China.

By March, the blockade began to be eased in Wuhan.

Each person in each household is allowed to leave the residential area for up to 2 hours.

On April 8, Wuhan officially lifted the blockade.

Couples rushed to organize their weddings after months of delays.

However, on May 12, 6 new cases were recorded in Wuhan.

The city quickly implemented a plan to test all 11 million people.

By June, night markets, where many stalls are concentrated along small streets, were allowed to reopen.

A month later, normal life seems to have returned to most parts of China.

Now, life has truly returned to normal in Wuhan.

Wuhan Happy Valley amusement park also reopened from June 25.

On Chinese social media, some comments expressed surprise that a large-scale event such as a banquet at a water park was allowed to take place in Wuhan.

However, Wuhan has actually no longer recorded any local infections in the city since mid-May and about 9.9 million residents have been tested for the coronavirus.

However, Sanjaya Senanayake, an associate professor of infectious diseases at the Australian National University, said even if the majority of the city’s population were tested, there was still a risk of the coronavirus spreading to Wuhan from elsewhere.

`The problem is that we have not eradicated Covid-19 and as long as the virus exists, there is still a risk of it coming back, whether from abroad or elsewhere,` Mr. Senanayake told the BBC.

Mr. Senanayake cited the case of New Zealand – a country that recorded community infections increasing again from the beginning of last week after more than 3 months without any infections.

`A study from London found that just about 10-20% of the population getting Covid-19 would result in about 80% of infections. So if you’re gathering in large numbers, you really have to be careful. Just one

Covid-19 is continuing to spread in other countries.
