(Dan Tri) – MG7 is expected to be brought to Vietnam in September, competing directly with Toyota Camry but the selling price is only as cheap as a C-class car.

After the new distributor of the MG Motor brand in our country – SAIC Motor Vietnam Co., Ltd. (SMV) – confirmed that it would bring the MG7, the dealer boldly shared more information about the D-class sedan.

Sales consultants said that MG7 will have 2 versions, with the names STD and LUX like the `junior` MG5 that is on sale.

SMV is a subsidiary of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), the largest car company in China and also the owner of the MG brand (Photo: CarExpert).

The MG7 just went on sale in China on March, and has not yet been scheduled to launch in Thailand, where the company has its assembly plant.

If imported from China, MG7 will have difficulty reaching a large number of users despite its low price.

For the same reason, MG ZS was transferred from Chinese import to Thailand, MG5 launched later was also brought back from the land of the Golden Temple.

The dealer said that the MG7 brought to Vietnam will have 2 engine configurations corresponding to 2 versions.

The LUX version uses a 2.0L, turbocharged engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission from ZF, generating 254 horsepower and 405Nm.

The dealer did not reveal more about the remaining equipment, but the sales consultant promised it would be attractive enough.

The car’s interior has a connected screen cluster including a 10.25-inch digital dashboard and a 12.3-inch entertainment screen.

In China, MG7 buyers can choose an advanced equipment package priced at 6,000-14,000 yuan (about 19-46 million VND), including: active safety system, 360-degree camera, phone charger

Experts say that these `options` will likely be integrated into the high-end LUX version of MG7 when it goes on sale in Vietnam if the company wants its products to be competitive with rivals from Japan.

When returning to Vietnam, MG7 will have the lowest selling price in the D-class sedan segment. This will be an advantage to help this car model compete with the product with the best selling power in the segment, Toyota Camry (1,105-1,495 billion VND).

However, even when imported from Thailand, MG7 will still need time to prove its quality.
